Services

Sound Hearing Clinic offers a full spectrum of audiological services. 3rd party providers such as Veteran Affairs Canada, Worker’s Compensation Board of BC, WSIB of Ontario, Indian Affairs (FNIHB), and more, clients may be covered at no charge. However, if you are not covered by a 3rd party provider, the Medical Services Plan of BC does not cover the cost of audiological services. For your convenience we do accept credit cards, debit, cheque, or cash.

This page contains information about the services we provide at the clinic. “Hearing Assessments” provides you with a brief tool intended to screen for hearing loss. The link will take you to the “Better Hearing Institute” website who has developed the online hearing evaluation. The “Tinnitus Questionnaire” should be completed by anyone having tinnitus (ringing or buzzing in the ears or head). The “APHAB Questionnaire” is an outcome measurement tool which tells us about the benefit you derive from your hearing aid(s).

Hearing Assessments

Tinnitus Evaluations

Sounds heard in the ears or head are called tinnitus. It is typically a ringing or buzzing sound. Often tinnitus is a symptom of hearing loss. It is a common side effect of being exposed to loud noise in the past. Take a moment and complete the questionnaire here.

Hearing Instruments

Sound Hearing Clinic provides only the best in quality hearing instruments. The clinic has access to all major manufacturers of hearing instruments. Worldwide manufacturers work with our team in order to bring you the best!

Repair of Hearing Instruments

Repair of all makes of hearing instruments are done at the clinic or at the Canadian labs. We will do our best to repair in-clinic when possible. Timely repairs are provided by the labs when necessary.

Loaner Hearing Instruments

If you require, a loaner instrument can be made available to you during your hearing instrument repair.

Batteries

All hearing instruments require a battery as a power source. Sound Hearing Clinic provides only the highest quality batteries so you get the longest life from each battery cell.

Assistive Listening Devices

If you encounter specific situations in which you find hearing difficult, you may be a candidate for an assistive listening device (ALD). ALDs include such devices as amplified telephones, FM systems, Pocket Talkers, Television Infrared Devices, and many more. Ask us to help find a solution for your specific situation!

Payment Plan

For your convenience the Clinic offers a payment plan. Just ask us for details!

Hearing Protection

Custom hearing protection is available. Unique solutions for needs ranging from those required by musicians to needs required in heavy industry are provided. Whether you are exposed to noise resulting from jack hammer use, from the melody of a flute, or from hard rock music, we have solutions for you.

Swim Plugs

If you or your child have had PE tubes surgically inserted in the ear drum, and are concerned about water entering the middle ear cavity, then you require swim plugs. These are custom made plugs that allow for swimming or bathing without concern.

Outcall Services (in city)

Outcalls in-city are provided. We work in close conjunction with Vancouver Coastal Health - Audiology, in provision of in-city outcall services. Contact either in-city Clinic for more information.

Outreach Services (out of city)

Services are provided at the in-city locations and all of the Outreach locations. Outreach locations include Anahim Lake, Bella Coola, Klemtu, Mount Currie, Ocean Falls, Queen Charlotte Islands, Waglisla (Bella Bella).
